Rey Fenix Makes Impactful WWE SmackDown Debut

Rey Fenix defeats NXT's Nathan Frazer in his WWE in-ring debut on SmackDown, with Legado Del Fantasma already eyeing a potential matchup.

Wrestling fans witnessed a significant moment on this week’s SmackDown as Rey Fenix stepped into a WWE ring for his official in-ring debut, adding another high-profile luchador to the roster.

Fenix squared off against NXT Tag Team Champion Nathan Frazer during Friday’s show in Chicago, securing a victory with a Mexican Muscle Buster in his first WWE match. Following his win, an emotional Fenix told the camera, “I’ve waited my whole life to say this – I am WWE.”

The debut comes three months after Rey Fenix’s brother Penta made his own WWE arrival on Raw in January. WWE has positioned the brothers on separate brands to allow each to establish individual momentum, though merchandise designs suggest a potential Lucha Bros reunion down the line.

Backstage, Legado Del Fantasma was shown observing Fenix’s performance. Santos Escobar remarked that such a showing is what he expects from Angel and Berto going forward. After Berto referred to Fenix as a “flying lizard,” Escobar mentioned plans to speak with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis about arranging a future match between Fenix and Berto.

Behind the scenes, reports indicate Fenix may be headed toward a program with Andrade as his first major feud. A segment involving Andrade and Nick Aldis that would have planted seeds for this rivalry was reportedly pulled from television a few weeks ago.
