Rey Fenix’s AEW career appears uncertain at the moment. In the midst of this, he took to social media today to send a cryptic message.
Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo were a key part of the tag team division during the early days of AEW. They had several epic showdowns with some of the best tag teams in the company and even held the AEW World Tag Team and Trios Championships (alongside PAC) for some time. During this time, they feuded with The Elite in one of the best trios rivalries in the company’s history.
Sadly, their booking hasn’t been the same this past year and as a result, it was reported that the Lucha Bros. were looking to leave for WWE. While Penta’s contract with Tony Khan’s promotion ended making him a free agent, the AEW boss has prevented Fenix from leaving by adding injury time to his contract, leaving many to wonder about his future with the Jacksonville-based company.
In the midst of these uncertainties, Rey Fenix took to his Instagram story to post a cryptic message. You can check it out by clicking here.
“I learned that we are never prepared for everything, but that everything is always preparing us. What happened had to happen, what went away had to go away, what comes has to happen,” stated his post.

Bill Apter comments on Rey Fenix’s controversy in AEW
Rey Fenix is not happy with how he is being treated in AEW. He made it clear when he complained on social media that he was being treated inhumanely by his employer. Since then, he has deleted those tweets but this sparked a lot of debate within the wrestling community, with some fans coming out in support of the Luchador, while some fans and critics criticized him for this act.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s The Wrestling Outlaws hosted by Mac Davis, Bill Apter highlighted how social media had changed the wrestling industry to the point where nothing remains a fantasy anymore. He further stated that wrestlers used social media to complain about things that were happening backstage.
“Social media, although it’s good in a way in our business, it has changed the wrestling business to the point where too many people know too many things. They have taken the fantasy out of it, for the people who want to believe, number one. And another thing is a lot of wrestlers use it just to b*tch and moan about things that are going on backstage that should stay backstage,” Apter said. [3:15 onwards]
