Rey Mysterio reveals secret to wrestling longevity
Rey Mysterio revealed how modern medical treatments have helped extend his career as he approaches his 50th birthday. During an appearance on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed the impact of stem cell therapy and recovery techniques on his performance after three decades in pro wrestling.
“Incredible. Thanks to stem cells and modern medicine, all the little gadgets that are out there, like cold plunge, infrared sauna, all those things have played a big factor in me being able to continue still,” Mysterio said. “Obviously, stem cells is the majority factor, and that has kind of slowed down the time for me. So I’m aging a little bit slower than normal.”
The Master of the 619, who began his career at 14, implements cold plunges and infrared saunas into his recovery routine. These methods have helped maintain his signature athleticism throughout his journey from ECW and WCW to his WWE Hall of Fame induction.
Rey Mysterio mourns passing of father Roberto Gutierrez
Mysterio recently faced personal loss as his father, Roberto Gutierrez, passed away on November 17, 2024. The WWE star shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, highlighting his father’s impact on their family.
“Father: thank you for giving me the life I have. You did more than set the example of how to love & maintain a strong marriage and father 4 boys, you were the example and passed every single time until your death with flying colors. Excellent husband, loving father, beautiful grandfather, incredible son & brother, and amazing father in law. You checked every list on the box and can honestly say my majority trates I picked up from you. You fought until the very last minute and know that you biggest fear was leaving Moms behind, but I can assure you that she will not be alone and we will always look out for her,” Mysterio expressed.
