Roman Reigns Issues Statement On WrestleMania 40 Loss
Roman Reigns has been very brief when addressing the biggest loss of his WWE career.
At WrestleMania 40, The Tribal Chief saw his 1,316-day reign as champion come to an end at the hands of Cody Rhodes. Taking place in the main event of night 2, the chaotic Bloodlines rules match saw Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa and even The Rock do everything possible to ensure that Reigns walked out of Philadelphia still the champion. However, with The Bloodline neutralised thanks to the help of Jey Uso, John Cena, Seth Rollins and The Undertaker, Cody Rhodes was able to pin Roman Reigns and finish the story.

As a triumphant Rhodes celebrated in the ring with his family and many members of the roster, Reigns was dejected by the result as his greatest achievement had come to an end. In footage that was not aired on the broadcast, WWE has also uploaded a video to social media that shows Reigns and Paul Heyman embracing at the top of the ramp.
Although Rhodes has been very active with his appearances following the victory, appearing on talk shows and at the Raw after WrestleMania, Reigns has been notably absent. Not appearing at the press conference or any other appearances, The Tribal Chief chose to make a very short statement on his own social media about the loss with an accompanying video of him walking on a treadmill:

Although Reigns’ lengthy title reign came to its conclusion in Philadelphia, The Triabl Chief set a new benchmark in more ways than one with his performances at the event. First, the 1,316-day reign is recognised as the 4th longest in the history of WWE and the longest of the modern era by a considerable margin. Also, with Reigns wrestling in his 9th Mania event at WrestleMania 40, the former Undisputed Champion has now surpassed the previous record that was set by Hulk Hogan.
