In a moment of candid revelation, Saraya admitted to lying to WWE leadership about a failed drug test during her tenure with the company, attributing the result to cocaine use rather than a dental procedure as she had claimed at the time. The admission came during a recent, lighthearted game of Never Have I Ever with Denise Salcedo.
When confronted with the question of having ever lied to a boss, Saraya did not hesitate, directly referencing the publicly reported incident.
“Yeah, I did it publicly… talking about my drugs and stuff like that, remember that? Yeah, I got fing— I got publicly outed for popping another drug test and I was like, uh… it was a dental surgery… and it wasn’t… I did cocaine, but… yeah, I fed up, I lied, but it’s okay.”
This willingness to confront her history aligns with her recent focus on projects outside the ring. Saraya officially became a free agent after departing from AEW in March 2025, a move she explained on her podcast, Rulebreakers With Saraya. She noted her time there was “magical” but felt she no longer fit into the storylines. Her last match occurred on an episode of AEW Dynamite on October 8, 2024.
Since leaving AEW, Saraya has launched her podcast and is working on a memoir, using these platforms to take control of her own narrative. Her current focus remains on personal life and self-discovery. In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel published on July 1, she expressed a clear desire to step away from the industry for a period.
“I just want to get my feet wet outside of wrestling for a little bit and take care of myself this year. It’s consumed me my whole life. All 32 years of my life has been wrestling, so I just want to find myself a little bit outside it and next year, maybe come back.”
Despite her stated intention to take a break, speculation about a WWE return ignited on July 2 after she posted “Evolution is this weekend?” on X/Twitter, a direct reference to WWE’s all-women’s event scheduled for July 13. However, her comments to the Orlando Sentinel clarified that she has not been in contact with WWE. Former WCW champion Vince Russo commented on July 5 that a return would be possible if she were medically cleared, given her star power.
