Seth Rollins reveals secret member of The Shield who would replace Roman Reigns

Seth Rollins has revealed that CM Punk had different plans for the formation of The Shield. Chris Hero, currently a producer in AEW, was Punk’s first choice to join the stable alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley).

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rollins explained how the plans shifted. WWE favored Roman Reigns for the spot due to his potential at the time.

The idea was that Punk liked me and Moxley, and Chris Hero was his pick at the time to be the third member because of their long history. But WWE’s office was really high on Roman and wasn’t sold on Chris yet. He hadn’t been in developmental as long as me and Moxley

Rollins also provided insight into how The Shield’s concept was developed.

Chris had just gotten there, he was a bit older, but I think they wanted to test him a bit more. Roman came in shortly before me, so it made sense as a compromise. They gave Punk me and Moxley but put Roman in the group, and we’d act as CM Punk’s bodyguards.

Roman Reigns’ Next Appearance in WWE

In the debut episode of WWE RAW on Netflix, Roman Reigns defeated Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat match to win the Ula Fala. After the victory, The Rock presented Roman with the ceremonial necklace. Paul Heyman then requested a date for Roman to be acknowledged as OTC, with January 27 set as the day.

In a backstage segment, hints were dropped that Roman might be the cover star for the upcoming WWE 2K25. Fans now eagerly await the events of the OTC’s appearance on RAW on January 27.
