Drew McIntyre departed from the Busted Open Holiday Party after expressing frustration about his position in the industry and fan reactions on social media.
Bully Ray shared his reaction on the Busted Open Podcast: “I’m absolutely shocked. I mean we are all shocked. But my jaw dropped. I’m like, ‘What the’. Like am I getting worked around here. That dude was just in a mood and that’s what happened.”
The incident occurred during the show’s year-end awards presentation. Bully Ray expressed mixed feelings about McIntyre’s actions and statements.
“I was pissed off at Drew last night. Dude, we’re having our year-end awards. It’s fun. It’s a big deal for this show to be in that fishbowl,” Bully Ray said. “I was angry with him in that sense. But I felt so bad for him because everything he was saying, as Mark said, was true. And I can relate—it resonated. So in that moment, we were all just trying to be good brothers and listen to this man as he kind of emotionally threw up on us. Drew hit his breaking point…He had a breakdown right there in front of everybody.”
McIntyre stated during the appearance that his contributions to the industry had not been met with appropriate recognition. He also addressed criticism he had received from fans on social media platforms.
