A major championship match has been officially set for the upcoming WWE Evolution event, as WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus will challenge Tiffany Stratton for her title. The announcement was made during the July 4th episode of WWE SmackDown.
The segment began with Stratton in the ring discussing her scheduled defense against Jade Cargill at SummerSlam. However, she shifted focus to the all-women’s event on July 13, revealing she had a handpicked opponent for the show. After Cargill made her way to the stage, Stratton announced that her opponent would not be Cargill, but Trish Stratus.
Stratus then entered the arena and formally accepted the challenge, leading to a brief verbal exchange between the current champion and the Hall of Famer before they both departed the ring.
This marks a significant in-ring return for Stratus, whose last match was at the Elimination Chamber premium live event on March 1. At that show, she teamed with Stratton to defeat the duo of Candice LeRae and Nia Jax.
WWE Evolution will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 13, 2025.
