The Undertaker and 77-year-old legend weighs in on whether major WWE Superstar needs a manager

Wrestling has had many managers in the past. The Undertaker himself had iconic managers such as Paul Bearer and Paul Heyman at various points in his career. However, today, it seems to be a lost art.

While discussing the topic of managers for wrestlers on Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway, co-host Matt Lyda opined that World Heavyweight Champion Gunther needs one. However, The Undertaker and Teddy Long dismissed the notion.

On the latest episode of the podcast, former SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long was the guest. When Gunther’s name was thrown into the mix as someone in dire need of a manager, The Undertaker backed The Ring General as a phenomenal all-rounder:

“Yeah I don’t know, [Gunther is] such a good—he cuts a good promo though. He’s got that other guy. He’s got [Ludwig] Kaiser, too. So, I don’t know man. Don’t mess with my guy. Don’t sc**w my guy up, dude. I agree, he needs to be more chicken sh*t,” The Undertaker said.

Teddy Long took it from there, stating that WWE should let Gunther carry on the way he is going right now.

“Gunther, he is phenomenal. With his accent, and the way he cuts a promo, I don’t think he needs a manager. I think he can do it all by himself. The manager to me, with him, it would take away from him. He does a good job by himself. I wouldn’t put anybody with him,” Teddy Long said. [From 1:24:11 to 1:24:56]

On the contrary, The Phenom praised WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman for being instrumental in Roman Reigns’ success since the dawn of a new decade.

The Undertaker wants WWE to bring Brock Lesnar back for World Heavyweight Champion Gunther

A sentiment that seems to have come up of late is that Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship needs something to make it more captivating. So far, he has picked up wins over Damian Priest, Randy Orton, and Sami Zayn, but he has also lost to Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in a high-profile showdown.

During an earlier episode of the Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker noted that potential challengers on WWE RAW, such as CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, are good choices for The Ring General, but Brock Lesnar is a “different animal”:

“Those are all wrestling matches. Brock’s a different animal in what he does, in his approach. Everything he does, you understand. Brock doesn’t do anything crazy. But everything that he does means something. And it’s scary, and it’s violent, and it’s easy to understand that you should not be on the receiving end of anything that Brock does,” he said.

The Hall of Famer also added that The Beast Incarnate will make sure Gunther gets his if the latter repeatedly chops him.
