Kofi Kingston has been getting a lot of heat in WWE lately. However, Hall of Famer Teddy Long thinks that one of his recent segments could have been booked better.
In a previous episode of RAW, Kofi was seen trying to hug his mother at ringside. However, his heel turn had made fans boo him incessantly, causing him to try and explain the situation to his mother. She did not quite seem to take her son’s side, instead choosing to berate him by walking away after refusing his hug.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy Long stated that the segment missed a mark. He would have liked it to have her say to her son how he had been raised better:
“I think they missed it. The only thing I would have done that they didn’t do is the mother. Now when the mother comes out the mother is just strict as a ball. She don’t wanna hear no man… So just as soon as Kofi got over there right to her trying to explain to her what this all about, she should have got right up right there and just can him. You were never raised like this!” [4:35 onwards]

The WWE Hall of Famer still likes the storyline
Despite pointing out a flaw in the booking, Teddy Long apparently still appreciated how the storyline seemed to be panning out.
Adding to his previous comments on the same episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, the WWE Hall of Famer explained that perhaps the creative department did not want to take the segment too far. He said:
“I love the storyline. I think it’s absolutely great… Maybe they don’t wanna go that far. but I am just saying, I am just speaking my opinion. That’s what I would have done. Because when you are talking about somebody’s mom and a mom is coming to straighten out her kid son or daughter, she ain’t playing.” [5:50 onwards]
As of now, it remains to be seen how WWE plans to book Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day next.
