Tony Khan Addresses WWE Scheduling Shows Against AEW Events

Tony Khan commented on WWE scheduling against AEW, comparing it to the Jim Crockett Promotions era but vowing a different outcome for AEW.

Tony Khan Addresses WWE Scheduling Shows Against AEW Events

Tony Khan addressed the subject of WWE scheduling events concurrently with AEW pay-per-views during the press conference following AEW Double or Nothing on May 25, 2025. The AEW president compared the current head-to-head scheduling to that faced by Jim Crockett Promotions but asserted a different result for AEW.

The comments came as AEW’s Double or Nothing, which took place in Arizona, aired opposite WWE’s NXT Battleground, held in Florida. Looking ahead, AEW All In: Texas, scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, July 12, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, could also face competition from a WWE weekend of events announced for Atlanta, featuring NXT Great American Bash, Saturday Night’s Main Event, and Evolution 2.

When asked about other companies scheduling against AEW, Tony Khan stated, “It’s pretty consistent. I’d say it’s the most consistent event head-to-head scheduling I’ve seen since Jim Crockett Promotions saw a lot of scheduling that went that way. And I can tell you this will go a lot differently than that did. Thank you for asking.”

This is not the first instance of Tony Khan drawing parallels to Jim Crockett Promotions, as he previously remarked in 2022 that he possessed significantly more financial resources than Jim Crockett did and was not prepared to passively accept such scheduling from WWE.

For All In: Texas, AEW has already confirmed Jon Moxley versus Hangman Page for the AEW World Championship, and Toni Storm against Mercedes Moné for the AEW Women’s World Championship, with Page and Moné having earned their respective opportunities by winning the Owen Hart Foundation tournaments.
