Tony Khan was very reluctant about signing 40-year-old fan favourite, reveals AEW administrative figure

AEW Executive Vice President Nicholas ‘Nick’ Jackson revealed that Tony Khan was reluctant to sign a 40-year-old fan favorite. This will no doubt surprise some fans, given how popular he is.

Tony Khan has an excellent eye for spotting talent and has signed up some great names, such as Orange Cassidy, over the years. Despite not winning the world title, the 40-year-old is one of AEW’s biggest stars.

However, Nick Jackson revealed that Tony Khan was not fully sold on bringing Cassidy to All Elite Wrestling. It finally happened after some convincing. Jackson revealed this when speaking with Social Suplex’s Tunnel Talk when he said:

“Chuck Taylor, of course, we’ve been good buddies with him since the CHIKARA days as well. It’s funny, there is a lot of the CHIKARA guys backstage to this day. Bryce Remsberg is another one, we’ve always been friends with him too. A lot of those guys, we specifically hired because of our CHIKARA days with them. I remember that Tony [Khan] wasn’t very high on Orange Cassidy at first so we had to kind of sell him on him for a little bit. And I remember Tony saying: ‘You guys were right.’” [H/T Fightful]

AEW star Orange Cassidy calls out MJF

Orange Cassidy is a man of few words and usually keeps his feelings to himself. However, that was not the case when he was recently asked about MJF.

The former AEW World Champion is known to be a troublemaker in the company. In an exclusive interview with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda, Cassidy doubled down on those claims.

“He is a spoiled, narcissistic, scared little boy who wants to get everyone’s approval and does the only way he knows how, by being a ruthless little brat,” Cassidy said.

MJF recently defeated Adam Cole at Worlds End after some shenanigans. It will be interesting to see if he has anything to say to Orange Cassidy after these comments.
