Triple H changed plans for WWE Survivor Series 2024 last minute?
Last week’s SmackDown delivered a shocking moment when Paul Heyman introduced CM Punk as the fifth member of the OG Bloodline team for Survivor Series: WarGames. The announcement caught fans off guard, as Seth Rollins was widely expected to join Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Sami Zayn against The Bloodline and Bronson Reed on November 30.
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo commented on Triple H’s decision during his BroDown podcast on Backstage Pass. Russo suggested the creative change came after he criticized the potential inclusion of Rollins in the team.
“I guarantee you that Triple H read my tweet. So, what do they do? At the last minute, oh it’s CM Punk, which makes absolutely no sense. There’s no story,” Russo stated. “This was done just for a pop. It makes no sense in the storyline, whatsoever. This company works on pops.”
The decision marks Punk’s first WWE storyline since the Bad Blood Premium Live Event. While the reasoning behind Triple H’s choice remains unclear, reports indicate this could ignite a rivalry between Punk and Rollins, who had previously turned down multiple offers to join the OG Bloodline due to his issues with Roman Reigns.
Triple H could announce surprise title match at Survivor Series
Another potential surprise might be brewing for Survivor Series: WarGames, as Triple H could announce a Falls Count Anywhere match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The tension between Rhodes and Owens escalated on SmackDown last week during a heated exchange. Owens showed no remorse for his recent actions, including injuring Randy Orton, and instead blamed Rhodes for the situation. When Rhodes challenged him to a match at either Survivor Series or Saturday Night’s Main Event, Owens dismissed the challenge, stating it would happen on his terms.
Following this confrontation, Rhodes had another altercation with former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. The two are scheduled to face each other on this week’s SmackDown, where Owens might interfere, potentially leading to an impromptu title match announcement at Survivor Series.
