WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque challenged the notion that the Attitude Era represents WWE’s pinnacle during Tuesday’s WWE & Netflix Lunch and Learn event. Responding to Michael Cole’s description of the late 1990s period as the company’s most robust era, Levesque presented a different perspective.
“I don’t think that is accurate anymore. I think it’s right now,” Levesque stated, addressing the current state of WWE’s programming. The executive, who experienced the Attitude Era firsthand as an active performer, emphasized that today’s product has grown “way bigger” than previous periods.
When discussing the appropriate name for the current era, Levesque redirected attention away from personal branding. “You mentioned the Triple H Era. I don’t think it’s that. I think this, at the end of it, is going to be called the Netflix Era. That’s where the big change is.”
The statement comes as WWE prepares for Raw’s historic move to Netflix, scheduled for January 6, 2025. The partnership extends beyond Raw, offering international audiences access to SmackDown, NXT, Premium Live Events, and WWE’s extensive content library.
WWE commits to family-friendly content on Netflix
WWE executives have addressed speculation about potential content changes ahead of the Netflix transition. During the event at Netflix headquarters, Triple H confirmed the company’s dedication to maintaining its current programming approach.
“It’s a safe place for families, for kids, for everybody, to be able to view the programming. That will not change,” Levesque stated. WWE President Nick Khan reinforced this position, dismissing rumors about a shift toward mature content on the streaming platform.
