A social media post by Paul “Triple H” Levesque celebrating the 4th of July has ignited significant backlash, as fans and critics questioned WWE’s creative head for what they perceive as selective holiday recognition.
The controversy began after Triple H posted a video package to his X account wishing followers a Happy 4th of July. The message was quickly met with a wave of criticism from users who pointed out the absence of similar posts for Black History Month, Pride Month, and Juneteenth.
One fan’s response directly highlighted the perceived discrepancy.
“Look how quick you ready to celebrate this but not a single post for black history month.”
Another user commented on the apparent change in company acknowledgments since the leadership transition.
“Damn I guess Vince McMahon got custody of all the Black History month Juneteenth and Martin Luther King Day video packages in the separation.”
The sentiment was echoed by others who felt key cultural and historical milestones were being ignored.
“Can’t celebrate black history month, pride month, or juneteenth tho … oh p*off.”
This backlash occurs against the backdrop of previous comments made by Triple H that also drew criticism. Last year, his statement that he doesn’t see wrestlers based on color, nationality, or gender, but only as “talent,” led to a negative reception, with one former WWE performer labeling him a “racist pirate.”

The public criticism contrasts sharply with the internal praise Levesque has recently received. He is widely credited with fostering a more positive backstage environment in WWE, a shift from the previous regime. Talent like Randy Orton has lauded the new culture, which prioritizes a healthier work-life balance. Levesque himself recently missed a television taping to attend his daughter’s softball game, an action noted by Orton as something that would have been impossible under former leadership.
Professionally, his creative direction has been linked to a period of revitalization for WWE, marked by record-breaking sales and critically acclaimed long-term storytelling. Despite this success, his long-term position as Chief Content Officer has been the subject of industry speculation, particularly with the growing influence of TKO Group Holdings and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on the company’s board.
As of now, Triple H has not publicly addressed the backlash from his holiday post.
