Two former champions secretly re-signed by Triple H planned for WWE return after 46 months on SmackDown
The Authors of Pain, Akam and Rezar, are reportedly making their return to WWE television, with plans to appear on the SmackDown brand. This news comes after a period of absence since March 2020, when they were released during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the duo had retired from wrestling but are now seemingly set for a comeback, having allegedly been signed for a year and a half.
According to a report from Fightful Select, the former RAW Tag Team Champions are expected to make their television return soon. Their former manager, Paul Ellering, who was with them throughout their run in NXT but was taken off television once they debuted on the main roster, is also expected to join them. It remains to be seen if their dynamic will remain unchanged from over five years ago, especially with Triple H now running things in WWE.
LEIA MAIS:
In addition to the return of the Authors of Pain, there is speculation about the potential split of the WWE Tag Team Championships. Since Triple H took over creative duties, the World and Tag Team Championship were unified. However, there have been rumblings of RAW and SmackDown getting their set of tag belts, but this has not yet materialized. The return of the Authors of Pain to the SmackDown brand could be a significant step towards this, as it would enhance the depth of the tag team roster on Friday nights.
Once the split happens, Triple H is expected to begin the process of having two Tag Team Titles in WWE again. The Authors of Pain may even be contenders for the new SmackDown belts, although The Street Profits are also due for a title win. The wrestling community is eagerly anticipating the return of the Authors of Pain and the potential changes in the tag team division under Triple H’s leadership.
