USA Network appears dissatisfied with RAW’s promotion of its upcoming move to Netflix, according to former WWE head writer Vince Russo. The observation came after CM Punk and Seth Rollins engaged in a brawl during this week’s RAW opening segment.
Speaking on Legion of RAW, Russo noted that USA Network muted the word “Netflix” when Cathy Kelley mentioned the show’s platform change. “So here you got USA Network, and WWE is making this an infomercial on January 6 on Netflix. I’m pretty much confident that USA Network doesn’t want to drive fans to Netflix on Monday Night,” Russo explained.
He continued: “It’s very interesting because they have a brawl and what do you do? You come back, and you promote the match on Netflix. But something very interesting. They go later on to the back, and Cathy Kelley says, ‘RAW premieres on Netflix.’ They muted it. The USA Network muted Netflix. That speaks volumes. That tells you they are not happy with WWE making it a promotional show for Netflix.”
The segment confirmed CM Punk and Seth Rollins will face off on the January 6 Netflix premiere of RAW, a match Triple H promoted on X/Twitter as “years in the making.”
