Cody Rhodes has received medical clearance to compete at Royal Rumble following his recent physical altercation with Kevin Owens on WWE programming.
The announcement came during SmackDown when Rhodes interrupted a conversation between Rey Mysterio and Nick Aldis. Earlier in the show, Mysterio declared his entry into the Royal Rumble match, expressing his goal to win and advance to WrestleMania. Kevin Owens confronted Mysterio, leading to a physical altercation that Mysterio managed to repel.
Rhodes revealed to Mysterio and Aldis that medical evaluations following last week’s brawl with Owens confirmed his fitness to compete. Despite the medical clearance, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis expressed concern about the mounting tension between Rhodes and Owens.
The Undisputed WWE Champion Rhodes is scheduled to defend his title against Owens at the Royal Rumble event. This match follows their recent confrontations, including last week’s physical encounter that prompted the medical evaluation.
