WWE Decides: RAW Returns to Old Format on Netflix; See What Changes

WWE is exploring the possibility of returning RAW to a three-hour format when the show debuts on Netflix in January 2025. The first episode on the streaming platform marks the end of more than three decades of cable television broadcasting.

The company reduced RAW’s duration to two hours during its final months on USA Network this October. Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided insights into this potential format change.

“With Netflix, there’s no need for a fixed weekly duration,” Meltzer reported. “However, due to existing international contracts, discussions are ongoing about maintaining consistent scheduling and managing advertising aspects, considering the commercial time needed would be greater for three hours than two hours.”

While Netflix’s platform offers flexibility for varying show lengths, WWE’s international agreements might require a consistent format across all broadcasts.

Travis Scott has been confirmed to appear on the first Netflix-broadcasted RAW on January 6, 2025.

Montez Ford reveals unexpected dream match for Netflix debut

Montez Ford shared his vision for WWE RAW’s Netflix premiere, proposing an unconventional matchup. During an appearance on the “Cheap Heat” podcast, Ford expressed interest in facing Bianca Belair for the historic episode.

“Montez Ford versus Bianca Belair for RAW’s Netflix debut. The greatest athlete from the men versus the greatest athlete from the women. We’ve talked about it so many times. How much fun would that be?!” Ford said.

While neither Ford nor Belair are currently scheduled for the Netflix debut, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and John Cena are expected to appear on the show.
