WWE Hall of Famer claims Damian Priest lost momentum ahead of GUNTHER match
Hall of Famer Bill Apter predicts GUNTHER to retain World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest at Survivor Series, while The Ring General makes CM Punk reference on RAW.
Bill Apter believes Damian Priest’s momentum has declined heading into his World Heavyweight Championship match against GUNTHER at Survivor Series. The NWA Hall of Famer shared his thoughts during an appearance on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s UnSKripted.
Priest’s recent accomplishments include capturing the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre. However, his reign ended at SummerSlam when he lost the title to GUNTHER following interference from Finn Balor.
“There’s gonna be some sort of shmuz and GUNTHER will retain the title,” Apter said. “I don’t see them giving it to Damian. He is great but I don’t see him over in that position again.”
GUNTHER references CM Punk on RAW
GUNTHER incorporated a subtle nod to CM Punk during Monday Night RAW, using lyrics from “Cult of Personality” in a backstage segment with Ludwig Kaiser. “Look into my eyes. What do you see?” GUNTHER asked, echoing Punk’s entrance theme.
The reference gains significance due to Punk’s previous encounter with GUNTHER following his victory over Drew McIntyre at Bash in Berlin. After defeating McIntyre in a Strap Match, Punk expressed interest in GUNTHER’s championship before McIntyre reignited their rivalry.
GUNTHER prepares to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Priest at Survivor Series: WarGames, with Kaiser playing a role in their recent confrontations.
