WWE Hall of Famer Rules Out Return to Face John Cena
Kurt Angle, WWE Hall of Famer, explained in an interview with The Takedown on SI.com why he won’t be part of John Cena’s retirement tour.
“A lot of people ask me if I’ll face Cena during his retirement tour. No, no. My body—I have knee replacements, I’ve undergone five neck surgeries, and I had back surgery last year. I still need shoulder replacements. I’m not in any shape to get back in the ring and wrestle. Don’t get me wrong, I can still do some things. I could probably get in the ring and compete, but I don’t want to risk getting injured,” Angle revealed.
John Cena announced his retirement from wrestling during the Money in the Bank event in July 2024, surprising fans by revealing he would end his career in 2025. He plans an extensive farewell tour with around 36 dates throughout the year, including appearances at iconic events like the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 41, which will be held in Las Vegas.
During this tour, Cena expressed his desire to compete in various locations, including the United Kingdom, showing appreciation for the international fans who have supported him throughout his career.
Additionally, rising WWE stars like Bron Breakker have challenged Cena to matches, offering him a chance to win the only title he hasn’t yet claimed: the Intercontinental Championship.
