AEW features a wide variety of performers on its roster, including heavyweight competitors capable of stunning athletic displays. One such name is Brody King, whom WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently praised in glowing terms.
The House of Black powerhouse debuted in the Tony Khan-led company in 2022, joining forces with his independent circuit tag partner Malakai Black. While he has thrived in multi-person matches and is a former AEW World Trios Champion alongside Black and Buddy Matthews, King has also impressed fans with his work as a singles competitor.
Last year, the 37-year-old star tried his hand again at winning the Continental Classic. He scored six points in the Gold League but failed to advance further in the tournament. Despite securing victories over Darby Allin and Komander, he suffered crucial losses against Claudio Castagnoli, Ricochet, and Will Ospreay.
WWE personality and NXT commentator Booker T recently praised Brody King while discussing his C2 bout against Ricochet. Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, he stated:
“One thing I always question Ricochet on was going out and selling a certain way for certain guys. I saw him in a match with Brody King and I only watched a portion of it, so guys don’t say Booker T don’t watch AEW, I don’t, but I just happened to have it on… he was working with Brody King who was a monster baby. This dude’s a monster man, I ain’t lying and he could work, Brody King actually can work.” [H/T Wrestling Inc]
The One and Only needed to hit the 6’5″ monster with multiple Spirit Guns to beat him at Dynamite: Winter is Coming last month.
What Brody King was up to in AEW before the C2
Before participating in the 2024 Continental Classic, Brody King teamed up with Malakal Black to challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championship in a four-way bout at Full Gear, facing The Outrunners, The Acclaimed, and defending champions Private Party. They were unsuccessful, however, as Isiah Kassidyand Marc Quen managed to retain their belts at the event.
Over a month before that, King took on his long-time rival Darby Allin in a singles encounter at WrestleDream 2024 in a losing effort.
