WWE legend sees John Cena as wrestling’s last old-school star

Kevin Nash has characterized John Cena as professional wrestling’s final connection to its traditional roots. The WWE Hall of Famer shared his perspective on Cena during a recent episode of his Kliq This podcast, reflecting on their interactions during Nash’s return to WWE.

Nash offered insight into what made Cena stand out among his peers:

I spent a little time with Cena when I came back. He liked lifting. I liked the way he carried himself. I think Cena was the last old-school guy to come through. Cena was the last old-school guy.

The 16-time World Champion is set to embark on his final year in professional wrestling, with a Farewell Tour scheduled throughout 2025. His first appearance is planned for the January 6 debut of RAW on Netflix, followed by scheduled appearances at both Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber events.

Chris Van Vliet predicts Seth Rollins as Cena’s opening Farewell Tour opponent

As discussions around Cena’s final run continue, wrestling interviewer Chris Van Vliet shared his thoughts on a potential first opponent.

On his INSIGHT podcast, Van Vliet suggested Seth Rollins as the ideal candidate to kick off Cena’s farewell series:

It feels like a great first opponent for him, and I’m not talking storyline here, or just throw him in the ring with this person, and you know it’s gonna be great. Seth Rollins. I think John Cena is gonna have a match with Seth Rollins at some point in time in 2025. I could see that being his first match.
