WWE makes decision on having CM Punk in Saudi Arabia for future shows

CM Punk will not be obligated to compete at WWE’s Saudi Arabia events, according to Fightful Select. The company is reportedly willing to accommodate Punk’s preferences regarding these shows, with creative options available to write him off television if needed.

The decision follows Punk’s past criticism of WWE’s Saudi partnership, including a 2020 social media comment directed at The Miz regarding the company’s involvement in the region. This flexibility was demonstrated when Punk was written off television through a Drew McIntyre attack prior to Crown Jewel 2024.

The timing of this report coincides with WWE’s announcement that the 2026 Royal Rumble will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Punk sees long-term potential in Rollins rivalry

Speaking on Nightcap before RAW’s Netflix debut, Punk discussed his ongoing feud with Seth Rollins:

I would love to say that I’m moving on to bigger and better things. I would love to be wrong about that, too. This is one of those Hulk Hogan-Randy Savage deals that is going to go on for as long as the beef has already been festering. Ten-plus years, we’re talking a decade here. I don’t think, even as big of a night, debuting on Netflix, and no matter how bright the lights are, this one is going to fester for a while.

Despite defeating Rollins in the main event and declaring for the Royal Rumble match, Punk suggested their rivalry remains unfinished, comparing it to the legendary feud between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage.
