WWE May Be Scrapping Roman Reigns’ Blockbuster Match for a Bigger Attraction

Former WWE manager Jim Cornette feels Roman Reigns vs. The Rock may be scrapped for a bigger match.

The Rock was a prominent feature of WWE in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania XL. The Final Boss allied with The Tribal Chief and the rest of The Bloodline. This led to several confrontations between him and Cody Rhodes. Before his departure after WrestleMania, Rock confronted Cody and told him that he would return and that the Undisputed WWE Championship would be on his radar.

In a recent clip from the Jim Cornette Experience, the veteran claimed that WWE had originally planned Rock vs. Roman for a blockbuster showdown. However, in the last few weeks, the company may have realized that Rock vs. Cody was a bigger draw. Cornette also claimed that when The Tribal Chief does return, he might be a babyface.

“Originally we were gonna have Rock and Roman and one would’ve thought Rock would have been the babyface. But now, if we have Rock and Roman, I bet you that Roman will be the babyface except do we get Rock and Roman because now they know that Rock and Cody is a much bigger money match than anything else.” [From 02:57 to 03:18]

Roman Reigns withdrew himself from the WWE Draft

WWE kicked off the Draft this week on SmackDown. However, at the start of the show, Paul Heyman informed everyone that Roman Reigns had voluntarily withdrawn his name from the Draft pool.

Later, Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga arrived and asked The Wiseman about the Draft. Heyman told The Enforcer that the management didn’t know who they were getting with The Bloodline since he had been adding new members to the faction. Sikoa was unhappy with this explanation and asked Heyman to do something about it. This exchange led to the Bloodline finally getting drafted to SmackDown in Round Three.

It will be interesting to see how Roman Reigns reacts to Solo’s hostile takeover once he returns.
