There are many questions about who should win the Royal Rumble 2025, both on the men’s and women’s sides. According to former World Champion EC3, if a popular 39-year-old star is to win the Rumble, WWE needs to push him quickly.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Outlaws, host Dr. Chris Featherstone discussed the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match with EC3 and ex-WWE writer Vince Russo. EC3 is of the opinion that John Cena deserves to win the Rumble in his final run and doesn’t see a younger star as deserving of the accolade. Dr. Chris Featherstone argued that the 39-year-old Jey Uso would be his personal pick to win the Rumble.
EC3 said that a superstar needs to be fully ready and positioned to win the Rumble, citing ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in 1998 as an example. He said that if Jey Uso is to win the Rumble, WWE needs to push him quickly.
“I think they’d [WWE] have to do it quickly because the way I’m hearing it be described is he’s [Jey Uso] meandering in the midcard. I’m thinking about the ‘cusp’ guys who win the Royal Rumble like ‘Stone Cold’ [Steve Austin] for WrestleMania 14. He was not in a midcard, going nowhere storyline. There was a want to see it happen. If you turn it around quickly, you can do it quickly. If they’re not doing it now, it’s going to be a hard climb,” he said. [From 07:41 to 08:19]

Santino Marella pitched an insane Royal Rumble idea despite WWE not contacting him
Ex-WWE Superstar Santino Marella may not be an active wrestler anymore, but he is cheering his daughter on as she eyes her return to NXT following an injury spell.
The 50-year-old former Intercontinental Champion revealed that his daughter, NXT’s Arianna Grace, is back in the ring from surgery. He also pitched the idea of him and his daughter being in the same Royal Rumble match as it’s something that has never been done before:
“So I was pitching… I don’t think it’s ever been done; father-daughter in the same Rumble. So, it [would] be really big for her to return to the programming and, you know, I’m down to show and just, yeah, just get that experience,” he added. [H/T: WrestlingInc.]
While it would undoubtedly make for a humorous spot, some fans would argue that adding Santino Marella into the Women’s Royal Rumble match again after he appeared in 2020 would be a waste of a spot. He wrestled as Santina Marella and would have to do so again to enter the Women’s Rumble match.
Also, Arianna Grace currently has little to no name recognition outside of the NXT-sphere – which is a much smaller fanbase than the global audience of the WWE main roster. So that brings up the question of whether it’s worth adding her as she may get little to no response during her potential entrance.
