WWE Performance Center Sees Visit from Notable Figure After Controversial Termination
Latest reports recently revealed a major name who recently visited the WWE Performance Center to apparently get things going. The name’s firing had surprised the wrestling world a few months ago.
Scott D’Amore started in wrestling in 1991 and founded still-standing Canadian indie Border City Wrestling in 1993. He started out behind the scenes for TNA in 2003 and went on to wear many hats on-screen and backstage until 2010. He had a stint with Jeff Jarrett’s GFW, then returned to TNA in 2017.
Coach D’Amore was promoted to TNA President in early 2023, but was terminated last February. The dismissal was controversial as the 50-year-old carried TNA through much of its success and recent reboot. Numerous wrestlers publicly spoke out in support of D’Amore. Several wrestlers also wrote a letter to Anthem to complain about his exit.
The Team Canada Coach was seen at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando earlier this month, according to Fightful Select. D’Amore was at the facility one week ago, on Friday, November 8, and did more than just visit.
Sources stated that D’Amore was at the Performance Center just visiting and received a tour of the facility. It was also said that D’Amore had “some informal conversations” with the company while at the Performance Center.
There’s no word yet on anything concrete emerging from what was described as a meeting with the 2024 inductee into the Canadian Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame. Fans are already speculating on D’Amore being involved with the WWE ID (Independent Development) program.
D’Amore re-launched his Maple Leaf Wrestling brand as MLP, or Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, in August.
The WWE Performance Center has seen some major developments lately
The WWE NXT brand began its CW Network era in October with back-to-back Tuesday night episodes from Chicago and St. Louis. World Wrestling Entertainment is taking its third brand back on the road one more time before the year ends.
NXT is headed to a familiar market on Tuesday, December 17. The weekly NXT TV show will air live from the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts that night. Tickets go on sale next Wednesday, November 20 at 10 am ET via lowellauditorium.com. The pre-sale runs Tuesday from 10 am until 11:59 pm with passcode NXTLIVE.
The December 17 NXT episode will mark WWE’s first time in Lowell since Battleground 2023, which was held at Tsongas Center.
