WWE planning big return of former champion for Road to WrestleMania

Jade Cargill has resumed training at the WWE Performance Center, signaling potential preparations for a return during WrestleMania season. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reports that Cargill’s activities include in-ring workouts, alongside pursuing non-wrestling projects and vacation time.

The former Women’s Tag Team Champion has been absent since November 22, when she was found unconscious on a car hood surrounded by broken glass during SmackDown. The incident occurred during a match between Bianca Belair, Chelsea Green, and Blair Davenport.

Conflicting reports have emerged about Cargill’s status. While some sources indicate she’s listed as injured backstage, Johnson maintains that her absence isn’t injury-related. WWE creative has reportedly developed two different pitches regarding the identity of her attacker.

Cargill has maintained an active social media presence, posting hints about an upcoming return. During her absence, Naomi has stepped in alongside Bianca Belair as Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Championship Status Officially Updated

WWE has formally recognized Naomi as Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Bianca Belair on their official roster page following the RAW Netflix premiere. The update comes after their successful title defense against Nia Jax and Candice LeRae on the December 20 episode of SmackDown.

The championship transition began when Cargill’s attack forced her removal from the Survivor Series WarGames match. While Bayley initially filled in for that specific contest, Naomi has since assumed the role of Belair’s tag team partner, defending the championships on multiple occasions.
