Musician Jelly Roll’s upcoming SmackDown appearance is expected to kick off a larger storyline for him with WWE leading into SummerSlam in August.

WWE Planning Major Celebrity Role For SummerSlam

The upcoming appearance of musician Jelly Roll on the July 11 edition of Friday Night SmackDown is now expected to be the foundation for a more significant run with the company, potentially culminating at SummerSlam. A report from Wrestle Votes indicates that many within WWE anticipate the guest spot in his Nashville hometown to be the “start of something more,” with the music superstar expected to make additional appearances.

This developing storyline aligns with the upcoming two-night SummerSlam premium live event, scheduled for August 2 and 3 at MetLife Stadium. Speculation about his involvement is further supported by his current tour schedule, which has a notable break during the first weekend of August, leaving him available for the event.

While the exact nature of his potential role remains unconfirmed, there has been discussion that he could compete in a match.

This would not be Jelly Roll’s first interaction with WWE. He previously appeared at SummerSlam in 2024, an event that used two of his songs as official themes. During the show, he became physically involved in a segment where he delivered a chokeslam to Austin Theory.

Following that appearance, the Grammy-nominated artist expressed that he had “unfinished business” in WWE and spoke about getting into shape for a potential in-ring performance at the 2025 event, adding credibility to the reports of a planned match.
