Live coverage:

The show starts with a video from the previous week, when RAW officially premiered on Netflix worldwide. We see highlights of appearances by The Rock, John Cena and The Undertaker, along with victories by Jey Uso, Roman Reigns, Rhea Ripley and CM Punk.

The scene is shown of CM Punk arriving at the arena in San Jose. As “Cult of Personality” plays, the “Best in the World” makes his entrance to a delirious crowd reaction.

Upon entering the ring, Punk continues to receive loud ovations as fans chant his name. Taking the microphone, he thanks the San Jose fans. Before starting his promo, Punk acknowledges all those fighting the wildfires in California. Getting back to business, he discusses RAW’s successful Netflix premiere and his victory over Seth Rollins. Punk states that while his future holds many possibilities, Rollins isn’t part of it. He explains that despite winning, things didn’t go as planned since Rollins returned from vacation to spoil his comeback.

Punk speaks mysteriously about his future, noting that while his career may be winding down, he can’t see it – taking a clear shot at John Cena. He says that while he can’t see the brightly lit WrestleMania logo, he can certainly see Cena. Punk declares that if Cena thinks he’ll win the Royal Rumble, Punk believes the same about himself, stating he’ll defeat 29 other competitors to advance to WrestleMania. As Punk requests his music to play again, he’s interrupted by “Burn It Down” as Seth Rollins appears.

As soon as Rollins enters the ring, the crowd sings along to his theme music. With a serious demeanor, Rollins removes his sunglasses, revealing a visibly injured eye, and stares down Punk. The crowd begins chanting Punk’s name again. Rollins says that while Punk may not be happy to see him, he shouldn’t be surprised, because win or lose last week, he would be here today – otherwise, he’d be confused for Punk. Punk reminds him that he won. However, Rollins responds that he’d rather be his worst version than Punk’s best. Rollins acknowledges that last week’s loss was the worst of his career.

Rollins admits he underestimated Punk on the biggest stage of all time and ended up losing. He says that while his biggest dream is to be at WrestleMania, to make that happen he needs to destroy Punk’s dream, promising to win the Royal Rumble. Rollins declares that he will be the one to eliminate Punk. As Punk tries to continue speaking, Drew McIntyre’s music hits, interrupting them both.

From the entrance ramp, McIntyre taunts both men, calling them selfish. He warns that if either of them moves in the ring, they’ll face consequences – particularly directing this threat at Seth Rollins. An irritated Rollins challenges McIntyre to come to the ring. McIntyre says both men are similar, with the only difference being that Punk admits he’s worthless. Rollins challenges McIntyre again. McIntyre states that Rollins believes he’s a leader when that’s not true. He points out that Rollins allowed Roman Reigns to get close to power again, while he prevented Jey Uso from helping him.

Rollins says he’s running out of patience. Punk shouts that his patience is even thinner. Both Punk and Rollins prepare to fight and challenge McIntyre. McIntyre refuses to fight in San Jose. He tells them they haven’t understood anything he’s said, because while they’re acting like clowns, Reigns is playing chess. McIntyre declares that he needs to get his hands on the World Title before Reigns does. He says he’ll be waiting for Punk and Rollins at the Royal Rumble.

We see footage of Lyra Valkyria, Dakota Kai, Finn Bálor, and Damian Priest arriving at the SAP Center, all with decisive matches tonight.

Chad Gable’s music hits and he comes to the ring under heavy boos. Upon arriving, Gable takes the microphone and complains about the crowd’s jeering, asserting that he’s an Olympic champion. Gable says that one of his goals has already been accomplished with the end of Otis and Alpha Academy. He states that his next challenge is to defeat an opponent tonight, before pursuing a championship. Gable emphasizes that when he makes a promise, he delivers.

Commercial…

After the commercial break, the arena lights go dark and WWE’s new signee, Penta, makes his way to the ring.

Singles Match: Chad Gable vs. Penta
– Penta lands a “Penta Driver” on Gable, followed by a pinfall.

After the match, Penta is interviewed about his debut. He thanks everyone and acknowledges that, like him, they’ve all been waiting for this moment. Penta also thanks all Mexican fans. He declares that this isn’t just Netflix’s new era, but his new era as well, ending his promo.

Backstage, Liv Morgan surprises Finn Balor by bringing up his loss to Rhea Ripley last week, staring him down alongside Raquel Rodriguez. Carlito and JD McDonagh are also present. Balor says they were just discussing Morgan’s future rematch and perhaps her only chance to defeat Rhea Ripley again. Dominik Mysterio appears with roses, apologizing for trying to reconcile with Ripley last week. Visibly irritated, Morgan orders Dominik to get her bags and keep the car running, throwing the flowers to Carlito. Balor mentions he needs to defeat Damian Priest tonight. McDonagh and Carlito say they’re going to see Adam Pearce, while Balor asks Dominik to talk to Morgan, who’s clearly angry with him.

In another backstage area, Sonya Deville, Zoey Stark, and Shayna Baszler are interviewed. Deville says she’s keeping an eye on tonight’s WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship match, promising to be the first challenger for the title.

Commercial…

Singles Match: Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser
– Sheamus lands a “Brogue Kick” on Kaiser, followed by a pinfall.

After the match, Sheamus approaches Bron Breakker, who’s sitting in the front row, and both begin arguing and shoving each other, nearly coming to blows.

Backstage, Seth Rollins announces to Cathy Kelley that he will face Drew McIntyre next week. Rollins is then approached by Sami Zayn. Zayn says he wants to talk to Rollins, acknowledging the bad week Rollins had previously. Rollins admits to his bad week, unlike Zayn, who once again helped Roman Reigns, just like at WarGames. Rollins asks Zayn if he’ll help Reigns at the Royal Rumble too. Rollins questions when Zayn will start helping himself.

We see Gunther walking backstage, as he’s about to make his first appearance on WWE RAW on Netflix.

In the stands, Jackie Redmond attempts to interview JD McDonagh and Carlito, but they become irritated when asked about a possible split in The Judgment Day, ending the interview to heavy boos.

Backstage, The Miz encounters Karrion Kross in front of Adam Pearce’s office. Kross says that apparently from now on the Wyatt Sicks will be part of SmackDown, angrily questioning Miz if he’s responsible for this. Sami Zayn appears and asks if Pearce is still in the office. Kross confirms he is, but first mocks Zayn’s recent conversation with Rollins. Miz tries to mock Zayn as well, which leads the Canadian to declare he’ll request a match against him for tonight. Kross implies he won’t help Miz.

Gunther’s music hits, and the World Heavyweight Champion comes to the ring. Gunther states that last week WWE had its historic Netflix premiere show. He says he was impressed with the show, but not with the wrestlers’ performances. Gunther says he only saw soap operas, like a search for a necklace, and cheap rivalries like Rollins and Punk, when they should be pursuing his title. Jey Uso’s music hits, interrupting him.

When he gets to the ring, Jey says if Gunther wants someone to face him for his title, he’s here. Jey states that Drew McIntyre and the New Bloodline are already out of his way, so he wants a match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Gunther smiles ironically and asks if Jey is serious. Gunther acknowledges Jey’s courage in coming to challenge him, saying that while he knows he won’t be champion forever, this is a real joke, as Gunther remembers the times Jey tried to take the WWE Intercontinental Championship from him in the past, losing both times.

Gunther says Jey is funny and likes to entertain the crowd, but when the match begins, he teaches Jey what it means to be a real pro-wrestler. Gunther says Jey isn’t on his level. Gunther accepts the challenge for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, but asks Jey to decide for himself, leaving the ring.

Jey says he respects Gunther and agrees with everything that was said, but each day he seeks to regain his respect. Jey declares that he will face Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event and become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

We now see a video package about the tournament finals for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship between Lyra Valkyria and Dakota Kai.

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament – Final Match: Dakota Kai vs. Lyra Valkyria
– Valkyria lands a “Nightwish” on Kai, followed by a pinfall.

Backstage, New Day is interviewed by Cathy Kelley, who asks the duo when they’ll return to the ring. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston complain that they haven’t been able to speak for weeks, especially after Rey Mysterio kicked them out of the locker room. They say they’ll be in action next week. When Kelley tries to ask another question, both say they’re tired and leave the scene.

Singles Match: Sami Zayn vs. The Miz
– Zayn lands a “Blue Thunder Bomb” on Miz, followed by a pinfall.

Up next, the new WWE Women’s World Champion, Rhea Ripley, will make her first appearance as champion on RAW on Netflix.

Commercial…

Upon return, the following matches are announced for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event:

– Bron Breakker (c) vs. Sheamus – WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
– Gunther (c) vs. Jey Uso – World Heavyweight Championship Match

Making her entrance now, to massive crowd support, is the new WWE Women’s World Champion, Rhea Ripley.

Back in the ring with microphone in hand, Ripley declares that “Mami” is back on top. She says it might sound like a repeat, but reminds everyone that she’s Rhea “Blood” Ripley, stating she’s one of WWE’s most dominant wrestlers. Nia Jax’s music hits, interrupting her. Met with heavy boos, Jax says she can’t listen to these words from Ripley, especially while she was talking to Adam Pearce about WWE’s transfer window. Jax announces she’s here to warn Ripley and everyone that she’ll win the Royal Rumble, choosing to fight for any title she wants.

Jax says that Tiffany Stratton and Ripley must think they’re on top of the world, just like Bayley. She adds that the only reason Bayley is in San Jose is probably because she’s from this crappy city. Jax claims everyone knows she’s the only one capable of being champion. Bayley gets irritated and jumps the barricade, entering the ring. Bayley excuses herself to Ripley and faces Jax, calling her an idiot.

Jax pushes Bayley, which causes Ripley to confront her. Jax pushes Ripley, but the champion responds with a headbutt. Jax delivers another headbutt to Ripley. Bayley attacks Jax’s legs and hits her with a knee strike. Ripley capitalizes and delivers a Big Boot to Jax, knocking her out of the ring. The segment ends with Ripley and Bayley celebrating.

The following attractions are announced for next week:

  • Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre
  • The New Day’s return to the ring
  • JBL’s address

We now see a video recapping the entire rivalry between Finn Balor and Damian Priest.
