WWE SmackDown – Best and Worst – Surprise heel turn; 5th member of Roman Reigns’ team confirmed?

SmackDown tonight had a ton of important moments, with three WWE titles on the line. A lot happened that we could barely mention Cody Rhodes’ opening promo with General Manager Nick Aldis.

While Kevin Owens was kept away, there was plenty of action on SmackDown. There were more positives than negatives, but WWE needs to be careful with a few of their booking steps going forward.

So, with that in mind, here are the ‘best’ and ‘worst’ of tonight’s episode of the blue brand.

#3. Best: Shinsuke Nakamura is back

After months of absence from SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura has returned to our screens. He attacked LA Knight after his latest United States Championship defense against Berto, beginning The Megastar’s next storyline. The King of Strong Style has a new look as well.

This is a positive since the blue brand’s mid-card has been lacking depth recently. A feud with Nakamura would boost Knight’s title reign, as long as the Japanese legend brings it on in the ring. For now, things are looking up.

#2. Worst: Hard to get into

Triple H posted the brackets for the Women’s United States Championship tournament shortly before SmackDown, inadvertently spoiling the main event of tonight’s show. Naomi was in it, despite challenging Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship.

Jax herself was not part of the tournament, which seemingly confirmed Naomi would not dethrone her. That’s a shame, considering they had a really good match. The challenger had a couple of close near falls that would have meant more, had we not learned she would definitely lose.

#2. Best: Frustrations galore on WWE SmackDown

Frustration could be a good thing. It leads to fire, which seems to be taking over the SmackDown tag team division.

First off, Tommaso Ciampa invaded the WWE Tag Team Championship match between the Street Profits and The Motor City Machine Guns. This can be classed as a heel turn of sorts. The Blackheart wants the gold so badly that he even put his hands on Johnny Gargano. However, this darkness is not limited to DIY.

Angelo Dawkins was ticked off after how his and Montez Ford’s title match ended. He smacked Alex Shelley before walking away, hinting at a heel turn. This is an interesting direction for both teams, which should ideally end in some excellent matches for the WWE Tag Team Championship in the coming months.

#1. Best/Worst: Solo Sikoa has his fifth member, but where’s The Wiseman?

As a segment, the Bloodline brawl on SmackDown was a smash hit. Roman Reigns saved Sami Zayn from getting spiked, before having a face-off with Jacob Fatu. It ended badly for The Original Tribal Chief though, as Bronson Reed attacked him from behind.

The Auszilla has been revealed as the fifth member of Solo Sikoa’s WarGames team. Reed hit multiple Tsunamis, while Fatu hit his Moonsault. So, an incredibly brutal beatdown. However, after this, it seems like the OG Bloodline can only call one man to help them.

Seth Rollins will likely join Reigns, Zayn, and The Usos, despite his mutual hatred for the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. This dynamic could be interesting, but their relationship must not be fixed with a simple “I forgive you” promo.

Perhaps, that’s where Paul Heyman will step in. Roman Reigns tried calling The Wiseman at the end of SmackDown, but the latter’s phone number was not in service. It remains to be seen what’s the story behind that.
