WWE veteran Stevie Richards has shared insights into the dangerous spot at Survivor Series: WarGames that resulted in Bronson Reed’s ankle injury. The incident occurred during a high-stakes moment involving Roman Reigns and CM Punk.
During the match’s closing moments, Reed attempted a high-risk maneuver from the steel cage targeting Reigns. While Punk intervened to protect his teammate, Richards suggests the timing of Punk pulling Reigns from the table may have contributed to Reed’s awkward landing.
“The reason why Bronson Reed broke his ankle is because Punk hadn’t pulled Roman Reigns off the table which means he had to land and then splash the table. He was trying to be safe, land on his feet then do the splash to give them time to pull it off,” Richards explained on The Stevie Richards Show.
The former WWE star emphasized the inherent risks of such a complex spot. “It’s really not a great spot to set up in theory. You think it might be good but, man, too much can go wrong,” he added, noting the potential for more severe consequences had the table moved unexpectedly.
The aftermath of Survivor Series continues to shape potential WrestleMania scenarios, particularly regarding Roman Reigns and CM Punk. Their temporary alliance at WarGames, orchestrated by Paul Heyman, has evolved into a complex situation filled with underlying tension.
The dynamic between these competitors has shifted significantly since their partnership at WarGames. Punk’s cryptic exchange with Heyman following their victory, referencing an unpaid debt, has fueled speculation about future confrontations.
While previous discussions centered on potential matches with Cody Rhodes or The Rock for WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, the emerging friction between Reigns and Punk suggests a possible high-stakes encounter at WWE’s premier event.
