WWE veteran criticizes Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight – “People were robbed”
Vince Russo expressed strong criticism of the recent Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul boxing bout at AT&T Stadium in Texas. During Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, the former WWE head writer questioned the legitimacy of the match, which drew significant viewer complaints.
“If you don’t think this fight was a work, you either didn’t watch it or you’re a blind person. There is no one out of the 60 million people that viewed this fight thought this was a shoot. 60 million people were ripped off. Bro that’s gotta be a record. How many people got ripped off at one time?” Russo stated.
Despite controversy surrounding the bout’s quality, Tyson secured substantial earnings, demonstrating his continued drawing power. Speculation now surrounds potential WWE appearances for Tyson during WrestleMania season.

Netflix acknowledged technical difficulties during the boxing match, which attracted 60 million viewers worldwide. Netflix CTO Elizabeth Stone addressed the situation internally, noting the unprecedented scale of viewership.
The streaming service, set to become WWE RAW’s new home in 2025, faces scrutiny over its live streaming capabilities. Paul secured a unanimous decision victory over Tyson in what marked Netflix’s first venture into live boxing.
“We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members, and know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success,” Stone commented.
