During SmackDown at the Capital One Arena, R-Truth competed in his first singles match on the brand since 2019, facing Carmelo Hayes. The match stemmed from a backstage interaction where R-Truth misinterpreted Hayes’ signature catchphrase “I’m Him.”
Throughout the contest, R-Truth attempted to channel his self-proclaimed “childhood hero” John Cena, but the strategy proved unsuccessful. Hayes secured the victory by executing his finishing maneuver, Nothing But Net, a top rope leg drop across the neck.
R-Truth’s last singles match on SmackDown took place on July 4, 2019, against Elias, in a contest valid for the WWE 24/7 Championship.
Following the transfer window closure, Fightful Select reports R-Truth will remain on SmackDown moving forward as part of the brand’s roster.
