Asuka teases championship pursuit after extended WWE absence
The Empress of Tomorrow hints at championship ambitions through social media as she recovers from knee surgery following a 231-day hiatus.
Asuka signaled her championship aspirations on social media, marking 231 days since her last WWE appearance on the May 6 episode of RAW.
The former champion shared a photoshopped image featuring herself with the WWE Women’s, WWE Women’s World, and NXT Women’s championships, titles she previously held when they were known as the RAW and SmackDown Women’s championships.
The Empress of Tomorrow has been absent from WWE programming since undergoing knee surgery after dropping the Women’s Tag Team Championship at Backlash France. Her career accomplishments include the NXT Women’s Championship, SmackDown Women’s Championship, and three reigns as RAW Women’s Champion.
Asuka shows interest in Women’s Intercontinental Championship
The 43-year-old veteran, who has been recovering from a knee injury since Backlash 2024, responded to RAW General Manager Adam Pearce’s announcement on social media, suggesting potential plans upon her return.
The introduction of mid-card championships, including both the Women’s United States and Intercontinental titles, provides new opportunities for returning competitors like Asuka, whether she rejoins Damage CTRL or pursues singles competition.
