Cody Rhodes continues his dominant reign as Undisputed WWE Champion, having held the title for 260 days since defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. His latest successful defense came against Kevin Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter shared his thoughts on Rhodes’ championship status during Live Q&A on Backstage Pass. When asked about the possibility of a title change in 2025, Apter reflected on Rhodes’ impact as champion:

It’s hard to say because he’s become such a proud face of that company. He’s what you want your champion to look like, talk like and sell merchandise like. So I’m on the fence about it.

While expressing doubt about an imminent title change, Apter identified Kevin Owens as a potential successor:

I don’t see anyone at this point in the company with them doing something to change the title. And if they would, if, if the Kevin Owens thing doesn’t happen, it’ll be Kevin Owens.

WWE Hall of Famer suggests character evolution

As speculation about Rhodes’ championship reign continues, WWE Hall of Famer Magnum T.A. proposed an intriguing direction for The American Nightmare’s character.

Speaking on the Straight Talk with The Boss podcast, he discussed the potential for a dramatic shift:

I can see Cody becoming a villain. I can totally see Cody becoming a villain because, at some point, he can only maintain that part of his persona for so long. He can probably be as hated as he has been loved.
