John Cena finished as runner-up in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, eliminated by Jey Uso in the closing moments when Uso avoided an Attitude Adjustment and pushed Cena from the apron to the floor. The elimination prevented Cena from securing a championship opportunity at WrestleMania.
Cena will have another opportunity in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match alongside CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and Logan Paul. Two more participants will join following qualifying matches: one from the February 14th SmackDown contest between Jacob Fatu, Damian Priest, and Braun Strowman, and another from the February 17th Raw match between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor.
While many wrestlers have expressed interest in facing Cena during his farewell tour, Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker delivered a stern warning during an interview with MuscleManMalcolm.
I just don’t think it’s very wise for John Cena. A lot of things have changed since SummerSlam. I know this is John’s farewell tour, and it’s his last year, and everyone’s celebrating the last year of John Cena, but if he wants to make it to the end of that year or make it to the end of this run, he probably just stay away from me. I wouldn’t want to face me. If I was him and was 47 years old, I would not want to face me.
Based on current developments, reports suggest WWE is considering a singles match between Cena and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41.
