SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis informed Cody Rhodes of his removal from tonight’s scheduled six-man tag team match. The match had been announced featuring Rhodes, Damian Priest, and Braun Strowman against Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga.
During the SmackDown opening segment, Aldis explained to Rhodes that the decision came directly from The Rock, who requested a face-to-face meeting with the WWE Champion later in the broadcast.
Following Rhodes’ removal, WWE adjusted the match to a tag team contest, with Priest and Strowman facing Sikoa and Fatu.
WWE scheduled the original six-man tag team match on Thursday, featuring the first-time pairing of Sikoa, Fatu, and Tonga. The match alteration follows The Rock’s earlier social media post referencing his WrestleMania 40 encounter with Rhodes.
What’s @TheRock have in mind for @CodyRhodes? 👀
