The long-awaited return of The Rock took place on the last episode of Friday Night SmackDown, in New Orleans.

After announcing the city as the host of WrestleMania 42, on April 11 and 12, 2026, Rock called the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhdoes, to the ring, as previously rumored.

Rock, oddly, started by praising Rhodes and his reign, just like on the premiere of RAW on Netflix in January, but then started making big revelations.

Rock said that Rhodes ruined his plans last year, as he approached Triple H and Nick Khan and asked that Rhodes be removed from the main event and that he face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, Triple H denied the offer, something that angered him. Rock also remembered the slap in the face that Rhodes received.

Rock said that for these reasons Rhodes is a special man and that’s why he wants him to become his champion, something much bigger than anyone can imagine. Rock said that Rhodes could think about it and answer him at Elimination Chamber on March 1. Rock said that much more than Rhodes’ title, he wants his soul, leaving the ring afterwards.

The segment ended with Rhodes looking perplexed in the ring, while Rock watched him from the entrance ramp.
