Nixon Newell recently shared an amusing story about her time in WWE when Becky Lynch jokingly commented on their similarities. During an interview with Metro UK, the former Tegan Nox revealed her panicked reaction to Lynch’s playful remark.
The incident occurred when Newell moved to the main roster. She explained that her flame-colored hair and ring name sparked a lighthearted comment from Lynch, who previously competed on the independent circuit as Rebecca Knox.
In the interview, Newell detailed the exchange that left her momentarily concerned. Lynch approached her about their similarities in appearance and names, causing Newell to worry she had inadvertently copied the established star.
She was away, and I had the flamed-colored hair, like red, yellows, oranges, just this big red hair. And when she came back, she went, ‘Oh, so not only you’re stealing my hair, but you’re stealing my name, too!’ I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, I can change, no, Nox is a Harry Potter spell, this hair is red, it’s not orange, I promise!’ She’s like, ‘I’m ribbing you; it’s fine!’ I was like, ‘[breathing a sigh of relief] Oh, okay! Because I will go shave my head right now!’
The former WWE performer’s immediate willingness to drastically change her appearance demonstrates the respect she had for Lynch, who has become one of WWE’s most accomplished performers. Lynch’s contribution to the women’s division extends beyond her in-ring work to mentoring and interacting with newer talent.
Lynch’s current WWE status remains uncertain as she has not appeared on television recently. Meanwhile, Newell continues her wrestling career following her departure from the company.
