Jey Uso Opens Up About WrestleMania 41 Clash with Gunther, Explains What’s Behind It All

Jey Uso has framed his upcoming WrestleMania 41 championship match against Gunther as more than a title opportunity—it’s his chance for redemption after last year’s underwhelming performance.

The 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble winner expressed his determination during a recent interview with Shak Mahjouri for CBS Sports.

This is do-or-die for me. A lot of people doubt me. I know that—they know that—but I’m gonna shut them all up.

Uso has already established himself as one of WWE’s most popular performers. His Royal Rumble victory in January propelled him toward the biggest match of his singles career at WrestleMania 41.

The championship opportunity carries additional significance after his match against brother Jimmy at WrestleMania 40 failed to meet fan expectations. Both Usos have publicly acknowledged their disappointment with that performance.

I feel like I’ve had great matches, but not one that just sticks in people’s minds. This is redemption time.

Jey faces a formidable challenge in Gunther, who remains undefeated in their previous encounters. The Ring General’s in-ring prowess makes him one of WWE’s most intimidating champions.

Gunther is nothing to play with. I wrestled that man three, four times—I lost. He’s the best in-ring performer. He’s intimidating, he’s strong, he’s big, heavy, man.

Despite these challenges, Jey remains confident about creating a memorable WrestleMania moment. His focus extends beyond simply winning the championship.

I don’t care if I go on first, last, or in the middle. Whoever’s going on after me—they’re gonna have to follow me. I’m about to have 100,000 people in one motion, man.
