Will Ospreay addressed his relationship with CM Punk during a recent appearance on the “Insight” podcast. The AEW star shared his thoughts about the missed opportunity to face Punk during the latter’s time with All Elite Wrestling.
When asked about Punk and the potential match between them that never materialized, Ospreay provided a straightforward response about their relationship.
Yeah, just narrowly missed it. But it is what it is, no issues with him on my side of things, I hope he’s doing well. It could have been [a great match] but things happen and like things transpire.
Ospreay clarified that despite speculation, he personally had no problems with Punk. He noted that their interactions had been positive, with one humorous exception.
For me, I’ve never had an issue with him. He’s always been lovely to me, except for this one time that really pissed me off, because I said to him, are there any decent steakhouses in Chicago? And he said, I promise you, I will get you a steakhouse. Showed up in Chicago, no steakhouses.
Punk returned to WWE in November 2023 after his departure from AEW earlier that year. He has since established himself as a prominent figure within WWE and has been contributing to the NXT brand.
Ospreay is currently preparing for his upcoming steel cage match against Kyle Fletcher at AEW Revolution 2025.
