Stephanie Vaquer defeated Giulia in the main event of WWE NXT Roadblock to become a double champion. The surprising title change was not originally planned as part of a long-term creative direction.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live, two separate issues forced WWE to make the unexpected championship switch.
So Giulia – there are two things going on. There is some ‘minor’, I was told, visa issue. And there’s also an injury, which is listed internally as ‘undisclosed’.
The title versus title match at Roadblock initially puzzled many fans who wondered why such a significant bout wasn’t saved for a major premium live event.
The answer appears to be timing-related as Giulia needs time away from regular WWE programming. With both visa challenges and an undisclosed injury affecting her current status, WWE made the decision to transfer the championship to Vaquer.
WWE moved quickly to ensure the NXT Women’s Championship remains active on television while Giulia takes the necessary time to address her situations.
Vaquer now holds both championships following her victory in what became an unexpectedly pivotal match at Roadblock.
