Cody Rhodes confronted John Cena during the opening segment of Monday’s WWE Raw broadcast from Brussels, Belgium. The WWE Champion interrupted Cena’s first appearance since his heel turn at Elimination Chamber.
When Rhodes entered the ring to address Cena, he was quickly cut off by the 16-time world champion who attempted to dismiss him by saying “listen kid.” Rhodes immediately responded with a more aggressive tone.
ENOUGH. It’s certainly not kid. It’s WWE Champion.
Rhodes expressed disappointment about not facing the “real” John Cena at WrestleMania 41. He directly warned Cena about the consequences of maintaining his current attitude at their championship match.
Rhodes stated if “this whiney bitch” version of Cena appears at WrestleMania 41, he would run him over and send him into early retirement. Following these comments, Rhodes exited the ring, leaving Cena standing alone to a chorus of boos from the audience.
The crowd continued their negative reaction toward Cena by breaking into a “na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye” chant as he walked back up the entrance ramp.
Following the segment, commentator Michael Cole voiced strong criticism of Cena’s earlier comments about fans. Cole expressed his disappointment in Cena’s behavior during the broadcast.
For two decades, I believed in that man, rode alongside that man, bought everything that he was selling, not only me but millions around the world, and he has the audacity to come out tonight and blame the WWE fans? John Cena is a 16-time champion because of the fans. John Cena is a massive millionaire and a movie star because of the fans, and what does he do? He comes out and cries and acts like an irrational prick. That is what John Cena is!
Cena and Rhodes are scheduled to face each other for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41. The confrontation establishes the growing tension between the two competitors as they approach their championship match.
