Legendary announcer and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross announced that he is now cancer-free following a recent battle with colon cancer. This marks the second time Ross has overcome the disease, having previously beaten skin cancer in 2021.
During the latest episode of his Grillin’ JR podcast, Ross shared the positive health update and expressed his gratitude for the support he received, particularly from AEW President Tony Khan.
The cancer’s gone, which I’m very happy to say. So you know, I’m blessed that my health has returned, and I’m feeling pretty damn good.
Following the successful surgery, Ross is already planning his return to the AEW commentary desk. He is targeting the upcoming AEW All In Texas pay-per-view on July 12 as his comeback date.
Yeah, I’m tired of sitting at home, and I’m excited about the opportunities that await. I am feeling better. My plan is to be in Dallas for the big event [AEW All In].
While recovering from abdominal soreness from the procedure, Ross affirmed he feels his goal to return for the event at Globe Life Field is realistic. He has a follow-up medical appointment in approximately 30 days.
On a recent episode of his podcast, Ross also weighed in on the future of Vince McMahon in the wrestling industry. He described McMahon as “hard-headed” and “stubborn,” but also “brilliant,” speculating that the wrestling world has not seen the last of him.
It’s in his blood… He’s the godfather of that whole genre.
