In a career-defining moment, Jade Cargill defeated the decorated veteran Asuka to win the 2025 Queen of the Ring tournament. The final match took place on Saturday at the Night of Champions premium live event, cementing Cargill’s status as a premier competitor and securing her a championship match at SummerSlam.
The bout was a classic clash of styles, with Asuka leveraging her technical mastery to control the opening moments. The Empress of Tomorrow grounded Cargill, applying a series of submission holds that tested the powerhouse’s resilience. Despite the early onslaught, Cargill used her signature strength to create separation, responding with high-impact maneuvers, including a formidable powerbomb that nearly ended the contest.
As the match progressed, Asuka mounted another offensive, using strikes and a missile dropkick to regain momentum. She locked in her signature Asuka Lock, putting Cargill in a perilous position. However, Cargill managed to counter the submission attempt into a pinfall. After escaping the hold, Cargill blocked Asuka’s attempt at the Empress Impact, hoisted her onto her shoulders, and decisively connected with her finisher, Jaded, to secure the pinfall victory.
Following the bell, WWE officials Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis entered the ring to present Jade Cargill with the Queen of the Ring crown in a formal coronation. In a post-match interview, Cargill made her future intentions clear.
“I felt like the world was on my shoulders when I entered the tournament,” Cargill said, before proclaiming, “the storm is coming to SummerSlam.”
