An injury to a key performer has reportedly forced WWE to adjust its summer plans, with a new report indicating a major championship match between Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY is now in the works for the Evolution premium live event. The all-women’s show is scheduled for Sunday, July 13, from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to a June 29 report from Bodyslam.net, there are active creative discussions for Ripley to defend the Women’s World Championship against SKY at the event. While the match is not yet finalized, it is reportedly the direction the company is heading for one of the card’s main events.
The shift in plans comes after Liv Morgan suffered a dislocated shoulder on the June 16 episode of WWE RAW, disrupting several key storylines. This directly impacts the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship picture, as Morgan’s partner, Raquel Rodriguez, will now reportedly team with NXT’s Roxanne Perez. Reports suggest the new duo is expected to defend the titles at Evolution, with some older reports noting that a match involving the returning Bella Twins was “on the table.”
While the main event is still taking shape, one title match is officially confirmed for the card. Jacy Jayne will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against recent signee Jordynne Grace. Grace secured her title opportunity by winning a four-way “Evolution Eliminator” match on the June 24 episode of NXT.
A Battle Royal is also planned for the event, with the winner earning a future championship opportunity at the Clash in Paris premium live event later in the year. The specific title the winner will challenge for has not been announced.
