With the second-ever Evolution premium live event approaching, WWE is reportedly aiming to add significant star power to the card by bringing in Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. The company is said to be pushing for Stratus to make an appearance, and potentially compete, at the all-women’s show scheduled for July 13 in Atlanta.
According to a report from Fightful Select, conversations regarding Stratus’s involvement took place during the Night of Champions weekend. While no deal is finalized, potential creative plans are reportedly in place should she agree to participate.
“They’ve expressed interest in Trish Stratus appearing and competing on the WWE Evolution show,” the report stated. “Nothing was locked in as of the weekend. However, there are potential creative options for the next week if she ends up doing it.”
The event, which will emanate from the State Farm Arena, is already building its match card, combining talent from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. One match has been made official for the show.
On the June 24 episode of NXT, Jordynne Grace won a four-woman main event to become the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. Grace will now challenge the champion, Jacy Jayne, at Evolution.
In addition to the confirmed title bout, other matches are reportedly planned for the event. A recent report from BodySlam.net indicated that a battle royal is in the works, with the winner earning a future championship opportunity at the Clash in Paris premium live event.
The same report noted that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships are also expected to be defended. Due to a long-term shoulder injury to Liv Morgan, her partner Raquel Rodriguez will team with NXT’s Roxanne Perez for the title defense. While their opponents remain unannounced, a match against The Bella Twins was reportedly considered a possibility for the event.
