WWE Eyes Top AEW Stars Whose Contracts Are Set to Expire Soon

A new report from BodySlam.net indicates that WWE has significant interest in acquiring multiple talents from AEW whose contracts are approaching their expiration dates. The most prominent names mentioned are Danhausen and the tag team Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen).

According to backstage sources cited in the report, movement on this front “could happen sooner rather than later,” a statement that gains credibility considering the current status of the talent involved. The interest in Private Party is particularly notable. The duo, who are AEW originals, have not appeared on company programming since losing the AEW World Tag Team Championships on January 22, 2025. Their 84-day reign, which began in October 2024, ended with that defeat, and their subsequent absence has fueled widespread speculation about their future.

This interest aligns with a broader WWE strategy of targeting established, television-ready performers to bolster its roster. An earlier report had already noted WWE’s “preliminary interest” in Private Party, while Danhausen’s contract is confirmed to expire in July, making him another prime target.

The situation extends beyond just those two acts. Other significant AEW contracts set to expire in the near future include Chris Jericho at the end of 2024, as well as Renee Paquette, Matt Menard, and Angelo Parker in August.

However, not all of AEW’s foundational talent appears to be in play. The report also confirms that Jon Moxley, one of the company’s highest-paid stars, is secured under a long-term deal that runs through 2027, ensuring a key main event presence for the promotion for years to come.
