Jeff Hardy Details 3 Years Of Sobriety, Pinpoints DUI Arrest As ‘Rock Bottom’

In a candid interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Jeff Hardy disclosed the exact length of his sobriety and pinpointed the moment he considers his personal rock bottom. The veteran wrestler confirmed he has now been sober for just over three years, a significant milestone following a public battle with addiction.

Hardy identified his third DUI arrest in 2022 as the definitive low point of his life. He described the experience of being in a jail cell as feeling trapped in a nightmare he couldn’t escape, fearing his life was over.

“Rock bottom definitely for me would have been after the third DUI… in that cell… and not being able to wake myself up from a dream, because I’d had dreams about getting a third DUI,” Hardy explained. “And that was definitely rock bottom for me. I didn’t know what was gonna happen, man. I was so afraid that everything was… I was just not gonna make it. Yeah… in that cell right after that third DUI.”

Following the arrest, Hardy entered an extended rehabilitation program. His brother, Matt Hardy, has commented on the profound change in Jeff, expressing pride in his recovery.

“His work on himself has been second to none… just the place he’s at in his life, I’m just so proud and so happy for him… because I’ve never… this is like the best version of Jeff Hardy personally I’ve ever seen that exists right now,” Matt stated.

Jeff Hardy has been open about his remorse, particularly the thought of potentially harming someone, and now feels “clear-minded” and creatively renewed. He has also spoken about adopting healthier habits, such as taking ice baths, as part of his new lifestyle. Now in TNA Wrestling alongside his brother, Hardy is focused on his rebuilt life and career.
